Keeping Your Child Safe

On this page you will find information about how the school safeguards its pupils and information about keeping children safe and healthy which we hope parents will find useful.

"Safeguarding is defined as protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development; ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes”. Working Together to Safeguard Children

The school has a legal duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and everyone at Bilston Nursery School is committed to ensuring that all pupils remain safe and free from harm. When there are concerns about a child’s welfare we will share information with other agencies. Where we can we will discuss these concerns with parents first unless this may be contrary to the child's welfare.

Safeguarding is not just about protecting children from deliberate harm. It relates to aspects of school life including children’s health, safety and wellbeing; how we manage behaviour, meet the needs of pupils with medical conditions and cater for children’s intimate care needs. It includes the arrangements for providing first aid, educational visits and online safety and arrangements to ensure school security.

If you have any concerns about a child please speak to one of the School’s Designated Leads for Safeguarding:
